Download Concerns: Software

It’s the easiest of choices — a program is found tucked within a forum; its code is made visible to all; and users can pluck it from the online world, toss it into their systems, allow it to settle within their hard-drives. Downloading, they’re sure, is a relief.

And it can be — as long as its worries are noted first.

Despite the comfort it suggests, the process of downloading is not without its concerns; and individuals must become aware of these so they can then properly combat them. Anticipation becomes the best defense:

One: Safety. It’s an all too simple thing to download software. Immediacy becomes an addiction and programs are chosen without care — thought to offer endless advantages. They can instead, however, offer concerns. Viruses are common within the downloading process, are hidden inside the codes. And users can find their computers suddenly under attack by Trojan invaders and spyware. Caution is therefore needed, with all sources examined and all creator reputations understood.

Two: Compatibility. A software seems… perfect, is promised to offer easy rewards; and users choose it therefore, wanting to sample what they know to be good. Only a small portion of them will be able to enjoy it, however — because the program is incompatible with the majority of systems and instead merely claims space. Often online applications won’t detail their requirements. This can lead individuals to select what they can’t use, simply because they weren’t aware of the restrictions.

Three: Warranty. The price of software is appalling — and many users refuse to yield to company demands. Downloading allows them to avoid all fees, finding what they want without having to suffer heavy prices. But those prices offer more than frustration: they instead ensure quality. When manufacturers provide software, it’s given a warranty. This protects the individuals, allows him to receive reimbursement should any problems occur. Downloading won’t offer such convenience.

None can deny that siphoning software from the Internet is a joy. None could also deny, however, that it can offer dangers. These must be recognized by all users and countered effectively.
