The Technology Need

This is a modern age — and an all too confusing one. Progress is quick; consequences are endless; and technology is ever changing, demanding too much of your time and far more of your patience. You… despise it. And there are days you can still remember when all hours were easy, all choices clear. There was no need to consult with computers. There was no reason to master software. You instead simply relied on books and common sense, mapping out all decisions with the knowledge that was earned through studying (rather than with the press of a mouse). Such days are gone, however, and you’re now left with an unhappy realization: operating systems will remain.

That doesn’t mean — you’re sure — that you must accept them. You choose instead to deny technology, to cling to your old ways. They’re familiar; they’re understood; they’re… utterly irrelevant.

It’s a sad (but unavoidable) truth that the world is shaped to computers and their programs. Choosing to ignore them — despite offering brief satisfaction — will prove to be futile. You must learn how to use applications; you must understand browsers and troubleshooting. This can’t be denied… even as you wish it to be.

The first step in mastering technology is to admit the need for it. Don’t make excuses. Don’t think yourself too set in your ways. Instead recognize that businesses are defined by their programs — and you must be willing to keep pace if you intend to succeed. Seek out assistance then: take classes; find blogs; gain practical experience. The process of understanding the basics may be long but it will eventually be useful.

Technology can’t be refused. It must instead be accepted and learned.
